ADNET provides best-in-class option for clients seeking Department of Defense-mandated cybersecurity certification
FARMINGTON, Conn., January 19, 2021—ADNET Technologies announced today that it has been designated a Registered Provider Organization (RPO) by the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body (CMMC-AB).
ADNET began working toward CMMC-AB RPO status in August 2020 and completed the process in December 2020.
The United States Department of Defense developed the CMMC standard to assess and improve the cybersecurity processes of its vendors and contractors, including those within its supply chain. The certification is intended to show that a defense contractor has best practices in place to adequately protect sensitive information.
Any organization that handles Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) will be required to demonstrate CMMC compliance. The Department of Defense plans to roll out its CMMC requirement in phases through 2025.
“Getting ahead of the CMMC process is crucial for our clients who are—or aspire to be—doing business with the Department of Defense,” said Tim Weber, Director, Security Services. “As we have seen, cybercrime can have far-reaching and serious effects. This designation allows ADNET to help organizations meet federal cybersecurity standards, which in turn protects business-critical contracts, reduces the risk of data breaches, and strengthens our national security.”
“I’m proud of our dedicated Security team for enabling ADNET to achieve this important designation,” said ADNET Co-CEO Christopher Luise. “Being one of the first CMMC Registered Provider Organizations demonstrates ADNET’s longstanding commitment to cybersecurity as an organization. This work continues our expansion and investment in the cybersecurity landscape.”
As an RPO, ADNET is qualified to provide advice, consulting, and recommendations to clients seeking to attain CMMC certification. The RPO designation also indicates that ADNET has passed an organizational background check, operates according to the CMMC-AB code of professional conduct, and employs at least one Registered Practitioner who is trained in CMMC methodology. ADNET Director of Security Services Tim Weber has been authorized as a CMMC-AB Registered Practitioner (RP).
While an RPO—or an RP—can help an organization prepare for certification, it cannot conduct a certified CMMC assessment. The accreditation body maintains a database of approved vendors and assessors on its website: https://cyberab.org/Catalog
