Microsoft’s Latest Windows 7 Announcement May Change Your Upgrade Plans

Earlier this month, we published a blog on Microsoft’s planned end of life date for Windows 7, scheduled for January 14, 2020 (see our original post here). Originally, extended security updates to keep the software current were only available for high-volume licenses and larger organizations and options for small to midsized businesses were limited. Now, Microsoft has announced that paid extended security updates (ESUs) will be available for all businesses, regardless of size. Should the latest announcement change your upgrade plans?

Windows 7 is Going End of Life in January 2020 – Here’s What You Need to Know

Windows 7 operating system will reach its “end of life” with Microsoft on January 14, 2020. This means Microsoft will no longer be pushing security updates to machines using the Windows 7 operating system, and that’s a pretty big risk. While this creates a challenge for many organizations, there are options to make your upgrade and replacement path easier.

Why You Need Business Intelligence (BI)

The rate at which we generate and store data isn’t slowing down any time soon. But is all data good? The short answer is no. With the proliferation of devices generating data, there is a lot of noise that is collected. That is exactly why you need Business Intelligence (BI).

Why Are Attackers Targeting O365? It’s Where the “Money” Is.

We are seeing a huge spike in phishing attacks against Office 365 users. Why O365? Simple, it’s where the users are now. In 2017, Microsoft reported that their monthly active user count surpassed 100 million users. In the words of Maverick (from Top Gun), “that’s what I call a target rich environment.”

Skype for Business to Morph into Teams?

For those of you who attended Microsoft’s Ignite event back in September, or have been paying attention to Microsoft’s announcements regarding Skype for Business (SFB), you are probably aware that Microsoft is planning to migrate the SFB capabilities into Teams and eventually phase out SFB altogether. If you have not heard about this plan, or are confused about what it means for your business, hopefully I can help make some sense of all this for you.

“We engaged ADNET to help us migrate email and phones of over 60 users to Office 365. The project included setting up and configuring O365 including Outlook and Teams (Skype for Business), migrating all data from Exchange on premise to a hosted solution, training administrators on security and Office 365 management, and troubleshooting critical technical issues as are ever present with projects of this scope. The ADNET team was a pleasure to work with and clearly experts in the field. Project plans were well written, deliverables were always on time, and the team was able to work with us to stay within scope. Our users experienced little to no down time and there were no major complaints (which is an indicator of success). Job well done.”
